2007 Toyota Tundra Frame Rust Recall

I was informed by my local mechanic today that my 2006 Toyota Tundra will not pass virginias yearly safety inspection because of hole in the frame as a result of corrosion.

I asked my dealer many times over the years if there were any recalls on my truck and it. Left uncorrected this problem could eventually cause the frame to break apart potentially causing serious accidents but in any case making the trucks unusable. Toyota has spent billions repairing rusting and rotting frames going back 20 years.

I never received a recall letter for the frame from Toyota. Others may have posted about this new one in these older threads but since the later owners were left out back then they may not have bothered to check older threads about a recall. Consumer writes in regards to rusting frame.

The recall on my 2007 Toyota Tundra for rusted frame was inspected by the dealer who said they would spray it with rust prohibitive. The 2007 Toyota Tundra has 38 NHTSA complaints for the structurebody at 61709 miles average. Although a recall was put out for 2000 to 2003 Tundras they are claiming no responsibility for the 2004 to 2006 models.

Well I now have one of those hopeless sick feelings in my stomach. 2007 Tundra frame replacement. Called Toyota dealer and they advised that the full frame recall expired in 2012 however the recall for the cross member under the bed was still active.
